Special Events

Special Events are customized events designed to extend the educational programming offered at elementary, middle or high schools. Each event can be created to serve a designated group of students, certain grade level(s) or an entire school. Events can last just one day or include extended activities that last a week or more. The goal of the program is to increase students’ understanding of a specific topic or field of study. The cost of an event depends upon the scope of the programming that is created.

Descriptions: E = Elementary School, M = Middle School, and H = High School

AN EVENT CUSTOMIZED FOR YOUR SCHOOL (E/M/H)

If you have an idea/dream/vision for an engaging, educational program/event for your school, give us a call. We will work with you to help make your vision a reality.

CAREER EXPLORATION (E/M/H)

The world of careers available to today’s students is vast, complex and, at times, overwhelming. CRI has created numerous models of career fairs and related activities customized to serve students from elementary through high schools. Whether you host a career fair, directed career engagement activities, career field panel discussions or “in-the-field” career explorations, CRI can help your students make the connection between today’s learning and tomorrow’s work.

COLORADO HISTORY DAY (E)

From dinosaurs to mining exploration to butter churning to Molly Brown to politics, this day is filled with opportunities for students to learn more about their state — past and present.

DR. SEUSS BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION (E)

Volunteer readers from the community are invited to your school to share Dr. Seuss (and other) stories with students in celebration of Dr. Seuss’s birthday. Typically held at the beginning of March, this event is fun and memorable for students, staff and volunteers alike!

LITERATURE WORKSHOP (E)

This day is devoted to exploring various domains within the world of literature — writing, storytelling, puppetry, drama, poetry, music/lyrics and beyond.

MULTICULTURAL CELEBRATIONS (E/M)

The level of cultural diversity in Denver Public Schools is something to be celebrated. And celebrate we do. These events include activities and performances from around the world, such as Japanese origami, African drumming, Mexican dancing, Australian culture, Chinese calligraphy, Irish Step Dance and much, much more. All activities expand students’ knowledge of and appreciation for our world’s various cultures.

SCIENCE DISCOVERY (E)

Imagine a day at your school devoted to science, where every student has the opportunity to participate in two or three exciting, engaging science activities. Types of activities range from meeting live animals to learning about forensic investigations, life in space, dinosaur explorations, plant life, the science of sound, magnetism and many other topics. It’s a wonderful day that students will learn from and remember.

SCIENCE FAIRS (E/M/H)

Science fairs offer a fantastic opportunity for students to demonstrate their knowledge/mastery of the scientific method. But who has time to create the event? CRI takes the work out of your hands! From offering workshops for students/parents to recruiting and training area scientists who serve as judges to coordinating the day’s activities and providing award ribbons and rosettes, CRI does it all!
